CLAIM COHORT COMMUNITY GUIDELINES Effective September 2, 2026 ⚠️ Educational community. Not legal or financial advice. Nothing posted here, by members or administrators, is legal, financial, or professional advice, and no post creates an attorney-client or consulting relationship. Policies and regulations vary by jurisdiction and change over time. For a specific claim, consult a licensed professional in that state. 🎯 OUR PURPOSE Claim Cohort exists to elevate the property insurance claims profession through collaborative learning, honest dialogue, and mutual support. Every member, regardless of experience level, firm size, or location, should be able to engage professionally and grow here. 📍 WHERE THESE APPLY All Claim Cohort spaces: channels, DMs, threads, video calls, live events, in-person meetups, and anywhere you're representing yourself as a member. 🤝 PROFESSIONAL ENGAGEMENT We encourage: ✅ Direct, solution-focused communication that respects differing approaches ✅ Sharing knowledge generously while acknowledging gaps in your own expertise ✅ Asking clarifying questions before making assumptions ✅ Disagreement that focuses on ideas, not individuals Respectful professional discourse sounds like: ✅ "In my state, we interpret that policy language differently. Here's the statute reference…" ✅ "I haven't encountered that. Can you share more context about the timeline?" ✅ "We handle that differently in our firm, but I can see why your approach works for your market" ✅ "That's an interesting take. What documentation supports that position?" Disrespectful comments sound like: ❌ "Only an idiot would miss that coverage provision" ❌ "You clearly don't know what you're doing" ❌ "That's not how real adjusters handle claims" ❌ Dismissing someone's approach without explanation or an alternative ❌ Assuming incompetence based on firm size, years in business, or location 🛑 BEFORE YOU POST Take ten seconds. If any answer is no, revise it or leave it alone. 🔎 Is it true? Do you know this, or are you repeating what you've heard? Can you point to the policy language, statute, or source? 🪞 Is it honest? Are you representing your own experience and expertise accurately, including what you're unsure about? 🧭 Is it helpful? Does this give a colleague something usable, or are you posting to vent, to win, or to be seen? ⏱️ Is it necessary? Does it need to be said, now, by you? 🤍 Is it kind? Would you say it to this person's face, in this tone, in a room full of peers? ⚠️ And one more: would you be comfortable seeing this post as an exhibit? Anything you write about a carrier, adjuster, firm, or file can surface later: in litigation, a DOI proceeding, an E&O inquiry, or a screenshot someone shouldn't have taken. 🧰 POSTING CONSTRUCTIVELY When posting about a claim, include: 📍 The state. Statutes, case law, and policy language vary by jurisdiction 📄 The policy and property type (e.g., warehouse on a commercial policy, or a single-family roof on a homeowners policy) 🖍️ Redacted client information in every image and document. Remove all PII and flatten the file. A black box in some tools leaves the text underneath. 🖥️ Same rule for your screen in live sessions and coworking rooms. Before sharing, close anything with client PII: file names, browser tabs, email previews, estimate headers. Sessions may be recorded. ✅ "Florida hurricane claim, single-family, HO-3. Carrier denied saying wind didn't cause the damage, but our engineering report shows differential movement. Anyone dealt with similar causation disputes?" ✅ "Texas hail claim, commercial property, ISO form. Does the business interruption period start from date of loss or completion of repairs? What's been your experience?" ❌ "Insurance company denied my claim, what do I do?" (Missing: state, policy type, property type, reason for denial) ❌ "Does anyone know about [obscure coverage]?" (Missing: policy language, state, actual question) ❌ Any post with visible client information 💬 DIRECT MESSAGES DMs are for mentorship and collaboration. Prohibited: ❌ Unsolicited sales pitches or vendor solicitations (use 📣 #shameless-plug instead) ❌ Mass messaging or copy-paste messages sent to multiple members ❌ Recruiting or poaching members' employees without permission ❌ Lead buying or selling ❌ Persistent contact after someone asks you to stop or doesn't respond ❌ Using DMs to get around public community standards Block any member at any time; you're never obligated to respond. Report spam or harassment to administrators. DM violations are handled at the account level, including removal. 🚫 HARASSMENT Zero tolerance. This includes: ❌ Offensive comments related to gender, sexual orientation, disability, mental illness, neurodivergence, physical appearance, pregnancy, veteran status, political affiliation, marital status, body size, age, race, national origin, ethnicity, immigration status, language, or religion ❌ Unwelcome comments about lifestyle choices: food, health, parenting, relationships, employment ❌ Inappropriate sexual content or advances ❌ Threats, intimidation, or incitement of violence or self-harm ❌ Stalking, doxxing, or harassing documentation of online activity ❌ Sustained disruption of discussions ❌ Continued unwanted contact after requests to stop ❌ Sharing private communications or "outing" personal information without consent ❌ "Joking" harassment, including ironic bigotry Also prohibited: ❌ Disparaging members' clients to undermine their business ❌ Sharing confidential claim details that could identify parties ❌ Targeted solicitation of specific members' clients or employees ❌ Using the community to harm a member's reputation without factual basis 🔒 CONFIDENTIALITY & INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY What happens in Claim Cohort stays in Claim Cohort. ❌ No screenshots, recordings, or copying of discussions, posts, or member-shared resources for distribution outside the community ❌ No redistribution of Claim Cohort materials, templates, courses, or resources to non-members ❌ No resale or commercialization of anything shared here ❌ Don't share members' claim strategies, business details, or pricing outside the community, or attribute approaches to specific firms ❌ Member names, images, and likenesses (NIL) may not be used for commercial purposes You can: ✅ Apply what you learn to your own claims and business ✅ Share general ideas or concepts learned, crediting the source: claimcohort.com ✅ Discuss general industry concepts in your own words publicly ✅ Share your own wins and case studies, with client PII removed 💡 This only works when everyone trusts their contributions won't be screenshot into competitor group chats or sold as someone else's course content. ⛔ Confidentiality and IP violations result in immediate permanent removal without refund. 🤖 AI USE ⛔ Do not use AI tools with Claim Cohort materials or the platform itself unless a resource is specifically marked as approved for AI use. Thoughtful contribution beats frequent posting. Criticism of carriers, vendors, or competitors should be fact-based and professional: a documented pattern, not an attack on a named individual. This is not a venting space. No gatekeeping. Questions at every level are welcome, and experienced members are expected to answer without condescension. 📣 REPORTING Contact administrators at [email protected]. If the person involved is an administrator, they are recused from handling the report. We take good-faith reports seriously, including incidents outside Claim Cohort spaces. We may dismiss reports made in bad faith or intended to silence legitimate professional criticism. ⚖️ ENFORCEMENT Minor violations typically bring a private warning first. Serious violations (harassment, threats, spam, solicitation, confidentiality or IP breaches) may bring immediate removal. Repeated minor violations can escalate. ⚠️ Private warning ⚠️ Temporary suspension ⚠️ Permanent removal All decisions are at administrator discretion and are final. We may warn members or the public about serious violations when necessary to protect the community. 💳 MEMBERSHIP Removal for guideline violations terminates membership immediately with no refund, regardless of payment plan or tier, as outlined in the Purchase & Membership Terms at claimcohort.com/terms. Suspended members keep access to purchased courses but lose community access, networking, member discounts, and recurring benefits. By participating in Claim Cohort, you agree to uphold these guidelines and contribute to a professional, collaborative environment that elevates our entire industry.
